CREST OF HS TOLMI
The Crest of HS TOLMI represents an old ship of the same type with sails, above in which they are crossed cross with sword. The representation symbolizes the struggle, in favour of faith and homeland, of the ships crews that took part in the liberational war of 1821 against the Otoman Empire.
HISTORY
Gunboat ΤΟLMI was constructed in the USA (Peterson, Wisconsin), belongs to the ASHEVILLE gunboats Class and she was commissioned to the United States Navy (U.S.N.) on the 5th of December 1969 with the name USS GREEN BAY (PG-101). She participated in the amphibious force of the fleet of Atlantic until 1975, when she was placed out of commission. She was transferred to the Hellenic Navy in October 1989.
The Greek flag was raised in the ship at 21 February 1990, she was given the name PG TOLMI with pennant number
P -229 and she was included in the Hellenic Command Fast Boats force. Since the 1st of November 2002 the ship was included in the Hellenic Command Gun Boats force and is stationed at Salamis Naval Base. During her participation to the Hellenic Fleet, she operates conducting patrols along the national sea borders mainly at the Eastern Aegean.
