Daily training is focused on:
A. General knowledge of the structure of the Hellenic Navy and life in it.
Â. Knowledge of Naval Art and Naval Terminology (Rowing, Sailing) and STCW.
C. General knowledge on rifles and training for future firing.
D. Infantry exercises of armed and unarmed soldiers.
Å. Lectures on the history of the Hellenic Navy, the function and organization of Naval Vessels and Naval Services. Further educational lectures are provided on different issues such as, First Aid, a healthy diet, AIDS, drugs etc.

Necessary Equipment

New recruits are provided with all the necessary equipment required for their two-week stay at the camp as well as all type of uniforms for their entire service.
New recruits may also bring personal belongings, such as underwear etc.
However, should someone enlist without personal belongings he or she will receive all necessary equipment e.g. shaving kit, soaps, towels etc.
New recruits are advised to bring their own pyjamas, as well as sneakers and track pants for optional sport activities.
MTC Poros has a canteen where all trainees can buy soft drinks, coffee, pastry, toasted sandwiches, cigarettes, newspapers, magazines and other necessities.

Prohibited goods
-
The use of mobile phones and electronic devices (Laptop, stereos) is prohibited within the camp.
Safekeeping can be provided for all the above belongings and for any valuables they may carry. Trainees are advised not to bring such items since they are prohibited.
Furthermore, they should not bring utensils, drinks, food or medication. If any medication is required it must be declared upon registration, in order to be approved by the doctors.
Smoking is only allowed in open areas. Rolled cigarettes are prohibited.

Health issues

Qualified medical Officers and doctors are responsible for the 24-hour medical unit. Within the unit, trainees are treated and medical checkups are scheduled. Psychologists - Officers of the Hellenic Navy provide psychological support to those in need.
Should medical treatment be required, trainees are admitted to the Naval Hospital of Athens. During the training, all trainees are given all necessary vaccinations.
In addition, a Mobile Blood Donation Unit visits the camp regularly so that trainees can become volunteer blood donors.

Daily Program – Schedule

Daily activities for trainees begin with morning rising at 06:00, a break in the afternoon and finish with the nightly sprawl at 22:00. During the day four assemblies take place, to which attendance is obligatory.
Lectures and training are conducted by Officers and distinguished guests during morning and afternoon periods. Every day, a different Company is assigned certain chores to ensure the optimum function of the camp.
Four meals are included: breakfast (06:30), morning tea (10:30), lunch (13:00) and dinner (19:00).
There are approximately four hours spare time a day, during which trainees can watch TV, check their e-mail, play table games and participate in sporting activities.
They can also withdraw money from an ATM of The National Bank of Greece in MTC Poros.
Finally, trainees whom conduct night shifts as guards carry out the only nightly training. This does not exceed 3 % of the total number of trainees.

Communication

MTC Poros provides 26 landline card phones for the convenience of the trainees.
A permanent officer acts as the "postman" and is responsible for the post in corporation with the post office of Poros and also conducts all banking transactions.
There is an internet access room where trainees can check their email, or video chat.
Finally for urgent requests and under permission the Camp’s FAX can be used.

Visits - Outings
-
During the training period and on one Sunday, friends and relatives may visit all trainees, who must be in uniform, in the wider area and in the city of Poros.
Visit is programmed and there are additional departures of ships for the convenience of the visitors.
