Hellenic Navy Tactical Training School (HNTTS)
History
The Hellenic Naval Tactical Training School (HNTTS) was founded in 1963 and is ever since operating continuously, covering the needs of the Fleet Headquarters' staff in tactical training. In 1978 the Hellenic Navy decided to upgrade HNTTS, keeping pace with modern technology. The upgrade was completed in December 1982, with the acquisition of ASTT (Action Speed-Tactical Trainer), fulfilling the need for more advanced training by using computers.
Location - Subordination
The HNTTS is subordinate to the Fleet Headquarters and is located in the responsibility area of the Training Centre of Palaskas in Skaramagka.
Mission
1. The mission of HNTTS regarding the advancement of tactics of Maritime Forces during operations is:
a.To train Naval officers and/or PO's, in the tactics and control of Maritime operations, by organizing and operating relevant tactics and Naval Headquarters courses.
b.To study, develop and recommend new tactics and procedures in the field of Maritime Operations, to prepare and issue operational handbooks and bulletins and to introduce experimental tactics.
c. To consult and comment on Maritime Operation Tactics issues.
d.To analyze Maritime exercises and operations (at the tactical level) and provide conclusive assessments and lessons-learned.
2. Moreover HNTTS is responsible, by order of the Hellenic Navy Headquarters or Fleet Command, for carrying out special courses such as the Air Controllers school and the Electronic Warfare school, based on available means and capabilities.
Activities - Objectives
The activities of HNTTS are organized in three categories relatively to its mission:
A. Training
B. Tactical improvement
C. Analysis of exercises
The basic HNTTS objectives are:
Concerning training, the further education of Naval Officers and/or PO's in topics of naval tactics, as mentioned before, by carrying out Tactics courses, Special Schools and Seminars.
Concerning Tactical improvement, the improvement and development of tactical methods of Maritime Operations by participating in Allied tactics groups, issuing Experimental Tactics methods and consulting / commenting on Tactics methods.
Concerning the Analysis of Exercises, the production of conclusions, Lessons Learned and statistical data from technical / tactical exercises / operations by analyzing exercises / operations, as well as the issuing and distribution of informational bulletins, handbooks and statistical reports.

1. In order to accomplish its mission, the HNTTS is staffed by higher and lower ranking military and civilian personnel, with suitable expertise, organized into the following departments:

2. In addition to the above organizational structure there is the "Administrative Staff" with the HNTTS Commander acting as Director and all Combatant and Flying School Officers acting as members. The "Administrative Staff" is responsible for the main tasks in order to fulfill the School's mission.
3. Finally, the School Staff may also include Officers from other Branches of the Armed Forces in order to perform relevant (or common) operations.
