Hellenic Surveillance Ships Command

The Hellenic Surveillance Ships Command is one of the subordinate Commands of the Fleet Headquarters of the Hellenic Navy.

The Hellenic Surveillance Ships Command was established on 29th November 2013 with simultaneous annulment of the Hellenic Gunboats Command, which was established on 11th June 2002. The constant presence of its ships in the Hellenic Seas, in the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as anywhere demanded, is a guarantee of our national sovereignty.

The Hellenic Surveillance Ships Command is located in the Salamis Naval Base. The Commander of the Hellenic Surveillance Ships Command is always an Officer at the rank of Captain.

Mission

The mission of Hellenic Surveillance Ships Command is to act within the limits defined by orders and directions of the Hellenic Fleet Headquarters in order to ensure proper organization, administration, operational training, maintenance and in general the readiness of its ships aiming always to contribute with the best possible way to the Hellenic Fleet Commander’s missions.

Tasks

 

The tasks undertaken by Hellenic Surveillance Ships Command in order to reach the mission above, are the following:

a.Naval presence in the Aegean Sea, as well as anywhere demanded.

b.Participation in allied/ NATO operations in order to preserve peace.

c.Preservation and increment of operational training and readiness.

d.Development of technical/ tactical directives.
