MISSION

The mission of Hellenic Navy Command Ionian (HNCI) is to organize, direct and control, following the orders and directions of the Hellenic Navy General Staff and the Hellenic Fleet, coastal defense, maritime surveillance and maritime transports and transportations. It is also responsible for the dispersion of oceanic and liner Merchant Ships from ports of HNCI ​​responsibility. It conducts the Naval Tests of Merchant and Fishing Vessels. It organizes and controls requisitions, mobilization, and conscription, representing the Navy. It coordinates the activities of local military, port and other public authorities, concerning the above subjects, in terms of Navy competence. It conducts and / or assists in research and rescue missions. It provides port facilities and logistics support to warships, within its capabilities. It accommodates the safety, survival, readiness and general preparation of Units, in order to contribute to the realization of the Navy projects, both in peace and war, within its area of ​​responsibility.

Area of Responsibility HNCI

The area of responsibility of the HNCI is the sea area from the north of Corfu, including the island complex of Othoni, Mathraki and Erikousa, until Cape Tenaro (Laconia). It also includes Eptanisa islands, except Kythira.
