TG 150 PLA Navy in Port of Piraeus

      On Monday 24th July 2017, the HNGS Chief, Vice Admiral Nicolaos Tsounis HN, met with the Deputy Commander of the East Sea Fleet, PLA Navy, Rear Admiral Shen Hao, at his office. During their meeting, issues of activities between the two Navies, mutual interest and bilateral cooperation were discussed. Thereafter, Shen Hao visited the Hellenic Fleet Command Headquarters, where he met with the Commander in Chief of Hellenic Fleet, Vice Admiral Ioannis Pavlopoulos HN, and visited warships.

      Rear Admiral Shen Hao has been in Greece as the Commander of the TASK GROUP (TG) 150 of PLA Navy, which visited the port of Piraeus, from 23rd until 26th July, as part of its tour which is being conducted in the context of “Belt and Road International Cooperation Summit Forum, May 2017”.

      On Tuesday 25th July 2017, Shen Shao hosted a reception for a Greek delegation onboard the Chinese warship PLAN CHAO HU (AOR-890), at the port of Piraeus.

      On Wednesday 26th July 2017 HS NAVARINON, HS TROUPAKIS and an HN Special Forces Craft participated in an exercise in cooperation with the TG 150 units (CS PLANS JING ZHOU (FFG-532), CS PLANS CHANG CHUN (DDG-150) and CS PLANS CHAO HU (AOR-890)). The exercise took place at the region of the Saronic Gulf after the completion of their stay in the port of Piraeus. This exercise contributed to the promotion of the cooperation and mutual understanding between the two navies.
